Travel the beautiful state of Kentucky, observing and reviewing stack tests at sources of air pollution in a variety of industry sectors. This position will provide you not only the opportunity to work across branches within the Division and with the regulated community, but also soar above the rest with beautiful views of Kentucky.
The Kentucky Division for Air Quality’s mission is to protect human health and the environment by achieving and maintaining acceptable air quality for all Kentuckians. The Source Sampling Section in the Technical Services Branch is responsible for auditing source stack tests and continuous emission monitoring test data to ensure that the methods used comply with federal and state standards.
The Environmental Engineer Assistant I will perform beginning level audits of compliance tests of air pollution sources and emission monitor certification/relative accuracy tests to ensure proper test and engineering practices.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct beginning level observations and evaluations of continuous emission monitor certification tests and compliance tests
- Perform beginning level audits of protocols for tests of air pollution sources to ensure proper testing and engineering practices
- Perform beginning level evaluations and calculations on source emission test reports
- Review regulations and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) test methods
- Attend workshops, seminars, and meetings regarding test methods, protocols, and requirements
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering approved by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Frequent travel throughout the state may be required.
