JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for exercising discretion and independent judgment in regards to the day-to-day general accounting functions of Match-Up Promotions, LLC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Independently uses accounting experience and acumen to analyze and interpret data, and/or underlying transactions, to determine the proper accounting treatment, so necessary journal entries can be prepared and recorded accurately.
· Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations by independently researching, documenting, reconciling items and other variances from expectations for general ledger balances. If applicable, making any correcting journal entries.
· Analyze and interpret general ledger activity to identify root cause issues or explanations, such as budget variance commentary or other inquiries by accounting or operations management.
· Update and maintain the fixed asset-reporting database for fixed asset additions and disposals by determining the correct asset classification, depreciation life, and depreciation method for both financial and tax reporting for fixed asset additions in accordance with the Company’s Fixed Asset Policy. As well as, calculating and recording the gain or loss on the disposal of fixed assets.
· Coordinate the accounts payable process by analyzing the company’s cash position and using discretion to prioritize the payment of invoices and bills.
· Assist with the completion of the month-end close processes.
· Assist with ad hoc projects as requested by Management.
· Contribute to the development of accounting procedures by reviewing current processes and making recommendations for process improvements and best practices, to improve the individual, team, and organizational effectiveness.
· Monitor Individual performance to ensure productivity, efficiency, quality, adherence to deadlines and service standards are met, taking corrective actions when required or properly communicating roadblocks or delays to management.
· Demonstrate a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to assist others at all times.
· Serve as a back-up for critical daily processes as needed, covering for others in their absence and ensuring overall team service and performance excellence.
· Ensure professional skills are continuously improving by actively participating in internal/external development opportunities.
· Develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with Match-Up leadership, peers, co-workers, teammates, and employees.

· Regular and consistent attendance is expected and a necessary component to the job.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Back-up for teammates as needed, covering for others in their absence and ensuring overall team service excellence
· Participates in training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development of account team and / or new hire
· Lifting and carrying large equipment / boxes over 5 lbs.
· Bending and stooping to utilize necessary office equipment
· Participation in team building and other activities
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration with accounting or finance major and a minimum of two (2) years of public or private accounting experience with emphasis on full-cycle accounting process. Absent a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of five (5) of accounting experience is required.
· Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) experience preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Ability to work independently in a constantly evolving environment
· Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
· Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
