Job Description
Impact Learning & Development is a fast-paced, collaborative, multidisciplinary pediatric clinic that provides interventions to children who have language, communication, and behavioral needs. We provide interventions that are individualized to meet the needs of each child and used to decrease problem and (sometimes) aggressive behavior, as well as to promote skill acquisition. We are seeking a full time Special Education/Autism Teacher to provide intensive school based behavioral and academic intervention with children 5-12 years of age.

The ASD teacher will implement an intensive instruction model, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as directed and supervised by staff trained in this methodology. The ASD teacher is responsible for planning instruction and adaption of the general/special education curriculum to accommodate students in the learning process. The ASD teacher will function as the case manager for students with individualized education programs (IEPs) and oversees their compliance. It is the expectation that each duty will be performed effectively throughout the school year.
Role and Responsibilities
Provide treatment for clients with a variety of communication disorders including, but not limited to autism spectrum disorders (ASD), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), fluency, literacy, pragmatic language (social skills), receptive and expressive language, and speech sound production.

The ASD Teacher’s responsibilities will include:

• Comply with timelines, laws, and regulations as it relates to district, state, and federal policies and procedures
• Develop timely and compliant IEP’s for eligible students
• Plan and implement academic instruction for students who exhibit communication, social, and behavioral challenges using evidence-based methods (i.e., Direct Instruction) and modified curriculum materials (i.e., VB-MAPP, Unique, SRA) as well as general education curriculum
• Plan and implement non-academic instruction in areas such as social skills, toilet training, and community-based instruction
• Document and share student progress on goals and objectives (utilizing Rethink software)
• Collaborate with all service providers, general education teachers, and other staff to support and provide documentation for the review of existing evaluation data process
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual student’s progress per the Individual Treatment Plan
• Provide individual-specific support to general education classroom teachers, as appropriate
• Develop implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans including a classroom plan and any needed individual plans as well as carry out these plans with fidelity until they are modified by the team
• Utilize Safety Care training and an understanding of the function of behavior to prevent behavior and intervene safely and effectively, including restraint when part of a written plan
• Maintain consistent contact with parents
• Participate in individual student-focused meetings as directed by the building principal
• Participate in Impact special education meetings as directed by Impact supervisor and collaborate with all staff involved with the students
• Log and maintain monthly Medicaid reports
• Maintain an electronic log to document students’ goals and objectives, accommodations, and other IEP related services in Rethink software
• Fulfill district and state professional development requirements
• Integrate technology use in the classroom where appropriate
• Supervise, train and guide behavior technicians in treatment implementation
• Other duties as assigned by Impact Supervisors

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• BS or BA in Special Education with endorsement in ASD
• Special Education Certification required
• Must be knowledgeable of Common Core State Standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental, and functional needs of students
• Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic testing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (oral and written)
• Certification in Safety Care Crisis Management (or willing to get and maintain yearly) and willingness to commit to training in applied behavior analysis
• Must be an energetic person who enjoys working with children.
• Must have your own reliable transportation.
• Must be able to lift and/or pull 50 pounds.
• Must have full physical dexterity/agility or be able to independently position self and perform all movements required (bending, kneeling, computer/tablet typing, standing, running, crawling, sitting on the floor for periods of time).
• Must have sufficient corrected or uncorrected vision and hearing to carry out all duties and responsibilities.
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint, background clearance, and reference check.
• Must be able to pass classes in and/or gain certification in crisis management, CPR, HIPAA, and mandated reporter (all trainings provided).

Preferred Skills

• One year of work experience as a teacher.
• Prior positive interactions and experience working with the pediatric special needs population.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
