Hutchinson Aerospace & Industry looking for CNC Programmer at Hopkinton, MA  Full Time

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Program and Setup vertical milling machines
• Coordinates with the shop supervisor to manage the flow of work through the shop, ensuring quality and timely production.
• Estimate time to complete the job.
• Performs setup tooling and fixturing.
• Able to consistently maintain close tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering prints (including GD&T)
• Ability to perform parts inspection
• Able to follow both verbal and written instructions including blueprints/technical drawings and communication from the supervisor.
• Performs both visual and dimensional inspection of parts to assure conformance to blueprints and quality plans.
• Participates in the First-Part Q-A process.
• Participate in continuous improvement of programs and procedures.
• Maintains equipment by scheduling and performing preventive maintenance – also following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
10+ years’ experience. Experience using HAAS controller is a plus. HS degree or GED required. A two-year college degree in a relevant vocational tech program or additional equivalent experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, prove, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC programs of multiple-axis lathes and mills using MasterCAM 3D and 2D programming software.
• Analyze part drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts.
• Selecting cutting tools, and machine speeds and feeds according to knowledge of machine shop processes.
• Perform debugging and testing of CNC programs in the machining centers.
• Prepare, store and maintain program files in the database system.
• Write instruction sheets and tool lists to guide set-up and operation of the machining centers.
• Operate machining centers as required to ensure performance, quality, and deliverability are achieved.
• Assist in any testing required in the purchase of new CNC equipment.
• Assist in the training of production operators on the use of new and existing CNC machine controls and tools.
• Participate in work holding/fixturing design and manufacturing.
• Participate in machine set-up on shop floor for all new and/or existing processes.
• Elicit feedback from machinists to improve machining setups and programs.
• Embrace the Lean culture for continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Experience:

• 5+ years of G&M code programming
• 5+ years of machine setup and operations using mills and lathes including multi-axis
• Experience with Fanuc, Yasnak, and Haas controls
• Proficient in creating CNC code using MasterCAM related to new version software.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Practical understanding of the assembly process and precision components
• Basic knowledge of MRP systems and material flow
