Defines and manages the scope, budget, and schedule of improvement projects that drive cost & complexity out of the Howmet Structures business.
Manages the capital approval process, financial forecasting, project implementation, and post project review process for automation projects.
Identifies opportunities through automation and process innovation to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs. The goal is to develop and prove concepts at one location, that can then be deployed throughout the global manufacturing footprint.
Collaborates with plant personnel (Maintenance and Production) on problem solving activities, cost reduction initiatives and performance efficiency improvements of manufacturing equipment and processes
Supports Maintenance and Production to meet and exceed production targets
This role is based in the HWM Structures’ HQ in Cleveland, but requires frequent travel to manufacturing locations, based on project assignments.
Major Activities and Key Challenges Include:
Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by implementing impactful solutions based upon solving the root causes of performance deficiencies
Initiating new electrical and automation projects and carrying them through to completion.
Preparing RFA’s, engineering reports, and project status reports.
Planning, scheduling, and coordinating equipment installations.
Project cost and status monitoring across multiple manufacturing locations.
Coordinating the efforts of cross functional teams to deliver project commitments
Participate in the development of long-range process and facilities planning, capital expenditure projects and cost savings programs
Ability to identify, clearly communicate and resolve production and equipment issues as part of a team
Providing consultation services in diagnosis and solution development of difficult operating and maintenance problems.
Writing and/or approving engineering specifications, designs, estimates, schedules, spare parts lists, quotations, requisitions, work orders, etc.
Training and mentoring less experienced engineers, maintenance supervision, and craft personnel.
Maintaining effective working relationships with peers, associates, and others at all levels.
