Title: Transport Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 12+ Months
JOB DUTIES
Job Duties for the candidate may include the following tasks, and other duties as assigned by management. The new Transport Engineer position will primarily focus on backhaul conversions in the transport network and providing resolution for the Central Gulf Coast network that contains, eastern TX, southern LA, Arkansas, western TX, southern AL, Mississippi, and western FL. This position will be engaged in the planning, design and execution of all traffic needs related to this functions as well as projects tied to LS6, 5G, CRAN, VRAN, MEC projects as well as upcoming emerging technologies. This position will closely collaborate with various stakeholders (RF, Implementation, Ops, Construction, RE, Vendors, and HQ) to help optimize the designs of these technologies and reduce re-work.
The person will be required to build new paths in Granite/CND, order equipment and coordinate with 3rd party vendors and Network Assurance to support regional and corporate targets for availability and performance of the Telecommunication network, ensures corporate policies and procedures are adhered to.
MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):
Bachelor s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience to analysis and provide reports on traffic for transport backhaul
Self-motivated, show initiative and be able to work independently.
Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
Knowledge of related interconnect circuits type and features i.e. SONET/Dark Fiber.
Knowledge of wireless 4G and 5G wireless services as it pertains to architecture
Able to multi-task multiple projects
Project management
DESIRED SKILLS:
In depth knowledge and advanced proficiency in CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena, Alcatel-Client
Familiarity with Dark Fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps is preferred.
Knowledge of Pathloss 5 microwave design software
Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
Executive level troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, and interpersonal skills
Decision making skills (by making appropriate use of all available information and data; anticipating the future and preparing accordingly; recognizing the impact of decisions upon the rest of the organization; receiving broad guidance; being accountable for broad project results; and being responsible for the leadership of broad programs in support of organizational or area strategies)

Ability to learn new technology quickly and apply working knowledge of wireless engineering on new projects.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.
Need to be highly productive and pay close attention to detail.
Familiarity with engineering and engineering economic principles preferred.
Additional responsibilities:
Work closely with all groups within the Network team including RF Design, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, Facilities, System Performance and telco providers.
Manage vendors to meet targeted network milestones and turn-up dates.
Provide input for budget and overall planning
Work within the financial constraints of allocated budget
Project management of new technologies/services in the region related to cell site engineering and operations
Attend frequent project update meetings to present current status of pending and ongoing projects
Adopt current methods/procedures for interconnect tracking
Consistently work to improve processes that assist in communication and coordination with other network teams.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience desired.
5-7 years of experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry in a Transport engineering role preferred.
LOGISTICS:
Shift: standard 8-5 with two days required to be in the office.
