Summary

ETA Consulting, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for an entry level Transmission & Distribution Line engineer with the opportunity to work remotely for the right candidate. The successful candidate will work in a team atmosphere to provide technical and project support for high/low voltage transmission and distribution line projects. He/She must be PLS-CADD knowledgeable and able to utilize materials from different sources like client standards, images, emails, sketches, XML exports, and other project-related documents. The candidate must have basic knowledge of engineering requirements for utility projects to assist with the development of deliverables which include but is not limited to maps, structure lists, Plan and Profile drawings, phasing diagrams, foundation drawings, structure assemblies, and permitting. He/She must be able to track and manage multiple projects at a time to meet deadlines and assist in the preparation of submittals. Must have great organization skills to keep up with file management. The individual must maintain a high level of quality and efficiency requiring personal accountability with self-checks to minimize errors, ensuring a quality product that meets company and client’s needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design of overhead high voltage (12kV-500kV) utility projects using PLS-CADD.
• Prepare project deliverables including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and construction documents.
• Plans, schedules, and coordinates work requiring adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Requires general knowledge of utility and client standards.
• Familiarity with basic engineering principles and practices.
• Must be capable of devising new and/or creative approaches to problems encountered.
• Provide field support as needed.
• Work effectively in a team environment; can also work independently.
• Takes guidance and coaching from more senior engineers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical).
• 6 months to 1 year of utility line engineering experience.
• Project experience utilizing PLS-CADD.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural engineering theories, techniques, and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, RISA-3D, Mathcad), and/or other engineering analysis programs.
• Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant within our team culture.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or EIT exam.
• Located in or near Southern California or the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT).
• Experience with other analysis software such as SPIDAcalc or O-Calc.
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
