The Senior Accountant serves as the financial reporting expert, manages activities required to ensure accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, and provides analysis to leadership. This leader coaches, consults and collaborates with senior and department leadership to drive integrated financial performance. This role oversees day-to-day general accounting operations, treasury functions, and leads state and federal tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Responsibilities: Reviews monthly account reconciliations, facilitates monthly check runs, monitors daily bank balances and monthly sales and use tax. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and department cost forecasts, upholds payroll controls, leads annual audits, and maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls. Provides quality control reviews to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists.
Revenue Administration: Prepares and maintains financial and business transactions that process sales revenue, handling the checks and balances of revenues generated; reviews all activities of the general ledger that are revenue related.
Process Administration: Leads process documentation and improvement in the accounting department to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Protects confidential and personally identifiable information of clients, and employees.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Certifications and/or Licenses: CPA preferred
Relevant Experience & Training:
3-5 years’ work experience in the finance and accounting industry.
1-3 years’ supervisory experience.
Experience with ERP software; JD Edwards experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong accounting skills in the AEC industry with knowledge of percentage of completion revenue recognition.
Ability to evaluate and prepare budgets, cost, progress and forecast reports for engineering, architecture and construction disciplines.
Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically and prioritize conflicting demands.
Previous accounts receivable and/or accounts payable experience preferred.
