Ellumen Looking for Data Engineer – Remote at Silver Spring, MD  Full Time

This is a revolutionary initiative where the Defense Health Agency (DHA) is adopting Silicon Valley-like processes and techniques to quickly deploy new capabilities in support of the Department of Defense. Candidates must be passionate, energized, and excited to work with state-of-the-art software components deployed in a modern architecture to solve challenging problems for the defense health community.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with a creative and talented team of developers in an Agile environment using the Scrum framework.
• Participate in Sprint Planning by reviewing User Stories, providing Story Point estimates, and committing to completion of accepted stories by end of Sprint
• Decompose User Stories and Tasks into subtasks required to complete
• Attend Daily Scrum calls communicating your accomplishments, objectives, and blockers
• Implement User Stories using feature branches
• Commit code changes regularly and merge feature branches when they are complete
• Attend Sprint Demos to incorporate customer feedback into future work
• Participate in Sprint retrospective and offer ideas for process improvement
• Analyze existing application source code for legacy components
• Create extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) code to parse and modify incoming messages for processing by OMIG
• Implement business rules to clean and prepare data
• Develop reports and dashboards that give customers visibility into data processing flow
• Create system documentation like version description documents, system administration manual, and system installation guide.

Requirements:

• Familiarity working with a distributed source code management system (e.g. Git)
• Experience working with one or more data management tools (e.g. AWS Glue, Informatica, SAS, R, etc.)
• Experience working with healthcare data in interoperable formats (e.g. HL7, FHIR)
• Comfortable using an Integrated Development Environment (e.g. Visual Studio Code)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
• Cloud certification (e.g. AWS Data Analytics)
