Overall Purpose:
This Systems Engineering position is responsible for supporting the overall operation of Duquesne Light’s Applications that support Operations. Position includes day-to-day support and configuration of software applications associated with a variety of operational applications. Prior experience supporting any of the following types of operational applications such as SCADA, Outage Management, C#, Python, along with ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS APIs, and Data Analytics software, such, as Aveva OSISoft PI, is a plus. Experience with supporting and interfacing with Graphical Information System Applications (GIS), Work Management System Applications, Customer Databases, Interactive voice response applications, software applications used to historize, analyze and visualize data, as well as mobile applications, is also helpful. Position will be required to follow all critical infrastructure protection (CIP), cybersecurity and change management processes. Position interfaces with individuals within DLC’s business sector including but not limited to the Operation’s Center/Control Room operating staff, Customer Service, Measurement, Field Support Staff, Engineering, Asset Management, and Planning. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication and teamwork skills. Position is required to perform daily, weekly, and other periodic procedural tasks to verify the state of the listed operational applications. Position requires the candidate to perform programming and database configuration on projects associated with the real-time control of the Duquesne Light’s critical electric utility assets.
Position is required to provide business and configuration support of various operation’s system applications, specifically data acquisition issues with front end communication processor issues, communication technologies using analog, digital (DDS), DNP3, frame relay or MPLS, protocols used by each associated system to collect data from field Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), support for Inter-Control Center Protocol (ICCP), for various operational applications. Actively assists with maintaining, configuring operational applications asset databases, ports, and data services. Provides support and maintains application compliance with CIP Standards. This job involves the support of operational applications for operation’s business users during critical weather conditions. The job also includes resolving business user enhancement requests. Job is required to maintain high levels of operational application availability.
Maintain an awareness of new developments in data acquisition with functional applications technology, as applied to power system control and operation. Provide configuration assistance, especially during storms, by filling the role as an operational application’s support resource.
