The role:

team! In this role you will be responsible for performing computer aided drafting and design, and assisting in the preparation of contract plans and public outreach exhibits for the roadway, hydraulic, geotechnical, HazMat, survey and roadside development disciplines.

A day in the life:
- Provide CADD services to various design disciplines, including Roadway, Geo/Hydro/HazMat and environmental.
- Assist in training others to increase their CADD skills and train new users in CADD procedures and techniques.
- Develop cross sections and profiles from design files.
- Prepare draft and final CADD drawings for complex transportation projects from design files, rough sketches, and verbal communications.
- Assist in the preparation of conceptual CADD drawings and displays for use at public meetings.
- Coordinate with designers from various disciplines to develop project specific drafting scope of work and labor estimate.
- Assist with the design of routine to complex transportation projects.
- Participate as member on statewide CADD committee and other project delivery task forces.
- Provide information as requested by Tech Center management team.
- Review complex projects performed by consultants and contractors for compliance with ODOT’s CADD standards and Region 1 quality assurance / quality control plan.

What we need:
Four years of para-professional engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group.
OR
An Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology OR Surveying from a recognized community college OR technical school of engineering and two and one-half years of engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, OR Transportation-related Engineering and one year civil engineering or surveying experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Associates degree in Drafting Technology OR Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
- Strong attention to detail skills.
- Experienced in MicroStation Connect or MicroStation V8I or Bentley OpenRoads.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience working cooperatively with others in a team environment.
