Job Description Summary
The Corporate Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting Corporate HSE in the development, deployment and maintenance of C&W Services HSE management systems, and culture change efforts, across North America. The objective is to provide quality and timely EHS expertise in the implementation of Company HSE programs/systems, thereby ensuring operations are safe, sustainable, efficient and legally compliant.
Job Description
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the Corporate HSSE Programs, including vehicle fleet safety – Liaise with Procurement, Legal, and Risk Management groups to establish a comprehensive program that includes the following:
Lead technical reviews and updating of Corporate HSE Programs, by liaison with HSE program subject matter experts (SMEs) and Regional HSE Directors/Managers related to vehicular incidents
Participate in occupational injury/illness incident reviews, including actual and potential SIFs (Serious Injuries & Fatalities) as necessary
Participate in periodic Corporate HSE planning meetings and resultant action plans
Participate in Risk Assessments, including: (a.) assess hazards/risks; (b.) identify controls; (c.) consult with Operations to develop Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and; (d.) tracking and verifying completion of CAPs
Support Regional Operations in development and implementation of Safety Improvement Plans (SIPs)
Oversees other company HSE vehicle related program compliance, including powered industrial trucks, bucket trucks, manlifts and mobile scaffolding
Managing CDLs and over-the-road licenses (expiration dates and state endorsements)
Tracking and ensuring periodic vehicle inspections
Maintaining records, per FMCSA rules and regulations
Screening new-hire drivers, as necessary
Reviewing vehicle incident reports and investigations
Mitigating vehicle claims via loss prevention best practice and damage control principles
Conducting site visits to evaluate compliance with program requirements
Sharing the safety/compliance message with our contractors, mechanics and drivers, via safety alerts, communications and site visits
Manage traffic violation and corrective action plan
Work with clients and site operators to maintain compliance with Federal and State DOT regulatory requirements
Apply creative, constructive approaches to improve controls, processes, procedures
Conduct ad-hoc projects, initiatives and tasks to address management safety inquiries or concerns
Support our culture change and behavior-based safety efforts (360 Safety) by conducting safety-compliance and culture-behavioral assessments and audits of our work sites
Build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with Senior Operations leadership
Use computers and computer capabilities to document and track results via Telematics data
Support development and deployment of the Corporate HSE training and education program related to vehicle safety
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility with colleagues and senior management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Planning, organizing and time management skills to effectively establish the priority and scheduling of work tasks and projects to ensure work priorities are completed on time and within budget
Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills to enable the identification of issues and the judgement to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving long-range organizational goals
Ability to conduct audits by gathering evidence through observation, interview, and sampling of documents and records, and communicate audit results
Ability to manage projects and conflicting priorities using collaborative management style
Ability to be sensitive to local issues and understand and apply local legislation
Credential Preferred:Certified Safety Professional
Education:Bachelor of Science degree or Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields, i.e. safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, public health. Strong work experience and/or relevant certifications may substitute for educational requirement.
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of Fleet Safety experience with a Broad working Safety and Health knowledge of regulations, standards, codes, methods and OHS best practices. Demonstrable success in managing HSE across multiple accounts/sites.
Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% within North America.
Computer Skills: proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint; web-based training.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $85,000.00 – $100,000.00
