GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:The Telecommunications Engineer designs, implements, administers, and supports voice telecommunications systems. The Telecommunications Engineer manages Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, voice gateways, analog lines, and switches, programs changes on request, and interfaces with the vendor, monitoring repair tickets for service. The Telecommunications Engineer provides training for VoIP systems (phone, fax, voicemail and intercom).This position is responsible for all aspects of the enterprise VoIP telecommunication system for CESD clients, ensuring those systems support their needs. The Telecommunications Engineer will build, upgrade, and maintain the phone server systems that will help with the telecommunications for the partner agency and staff. They will work on behalf of the client in providing level 2 support and troubleshooting as well as building and maintaining dialing plans, ring groups and system design.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT:Technology Services provides many regional services that support the needs of local schools, district offices, and the ESD. Services include access to the Oregon K-12 institutions and the Internet, network design, configuration maintenance of router, switch, and firewall, and the Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, domain name server (DNS), network security, network monitoring, traffic shaping, problem resolution, video conferencing, streaming media support and network capacity analysis.
