Your keen knowledge and mastery of engineering and public infrastructure has prepared you well for your role as West Allis’ City Engineer. As you administer capital improvement programs and direct public works infrastructure projects along with the Director of Public Works – including but not limited to transportation, sewer, environmental improvements, and more – you also balance regulatory constraints and calls for greener infrastructure.

You should be highly organized with a thorough understanding of and commitment to balancing requirements with positive outcomes, objectivity, and customer service; have a high level of emotional intelligence to successfully interact with the members of the public in stressful circumstances; possess sound judgment and an ability to work effectively under pressure; and have a strong understanding of local government operations, procedures and best practices.
Compensation
Salary range for non-resident is $108,555.20 to $124,051.20 with increases up to $148,865.60 based on performance, and an additional 5% if you are a West Allis resident.
Effectively supervise, manage, and mentor your Engineering Department while responsibly steering your departmental budget. With the Department of Public Works, oversee all capital improvement programs, projects, and repairs. Key attendant to Common Council, City Committee and Board meetings, and meetings with Department Heads and supervisory staff. Aid in the execution and initiation of thoughtful resource and equipment allocation. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level on behalf of the City.

Qualified candidates will then include interviews and job related experience evaluations; written, oral or performance tests, or other assessment methods. Final candidate selection will be completed by the Common Council.
