Position Summary:
The City of Prescott Department of Public Works is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable Equipment Operator for the Solid Waste Division. Under general supervision operates a motor vehicle and other equipment which may include an automated side-load refuse collection vehicle, an automated front-load refuse collection vehicle, a roll off refuse collection vehicle, a backhoe, an articulated loader, and a stationary boom crane to support solid waste activities at the City’s transfer station.
Special Requirements:
This position may be required to work Tuesday through Saturday or any other schedule at the supervisors discretion. Rotational scheduling may be included. Must be available to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Prior heavy or motorized equipment operator experience required. Experience driving side-load and front-load refuse collection equipment preferred. The successful candidate will possess, at minimum, a valid Class B Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or greater in good standing and be issued by the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division of Arizona Department of Transportation prior to start date of employment. A clean driving record is required. Candidate of choice must pass a pre-employment drug test and background/criminal history check. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
