All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; pass pre-employment physical, including drug test.
ENGINEERING ASSISTANT Salary $20.85-$23.46
Provides support to the engineering team on a variety of projects; fieldwork, inspection, design activities; help engineers design, develop, evaluate and troubleshoot to accomplish project goals. Must have working knowledge of engineering construction practices, including experience with AutoCAD or similar software to aid in drafting work. Desirable knowledge and skills: knowledge of mathematics; working knowledge of computers; skill in mechanical drawing; ability to make drawings and copy or trace from completed survey drawings, knowledge of machines and tools, materials, methods and tolls involved in construction and repair of buildings and roads. In addition to high school diploma or equivalent, courses in mechanical drawing preferred; possess and maintain valid Iowa driver’s license; obtain IDOT HMA I and PCC I certifications based upon class availability.

The Commission will conduct an entrance examination for the position of Engineering Assistant on September 21st at 4:30 P.M. at Bridge View Center, 102 Church St., Ottumwa, IA for establishment of a current eligibility list. Applications must be filed by 4:30 P.M. September 12th, 2022 at the City Clerk’s Office.
