Chamberlain Advisors is currently seeking to hire a team of 3 Tax Seniors to support the rapid growth of our client’s tax solutions unit within the global fund services group. Reporting directly to the tax manager, you will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of tax products; mentoring and providing technical guidance to more junior staff; and assist with the development and oversight of processes to ensure compliance with federal and state tax authorities. The ideal candidate will be a highly technical tax professional with at least 5 years of professional experience and knowledge of the United States investment fund sector.

• Deep technical tax knowledge and experience pertaining to United States investment funds and regulated investment companies (RIC).
  • Technical tax knowledge including but not limited to shareholder reporting, distribution processes, and tax adjustment rules. Straddles, wash sale rules, REITs, derivatives, excise tax, and passive foreign investment company (PFIC). Forms 1120-RIC, section 613 and 613A, 8621, 8937, and 1118 to name a few.
• United States Mutual Fund experience US 40 Act regulated investment fund experience is highly desired; however, we will consider those with hedge fund, or private equity fund tax knowledge.
• Experience reviewing the work of tax preparers; seeking those with oversight or review experience of more junior staff doing tax preparation work.

What You’ll Be Accountable For:

• Review of tax provision and distribution work papers for Regulated Investment Companies (RIC) including (but not limited to) the following: review Regulated Investment Company fiscal and excise tax provision work papers, review financial statement disclosures, and review annual book-to-tax adjustment analysis by examining the taxability of investment income/expenses, securities transactions, and complex derivatives including futures, options, and swaps; prepare income and capital estimates of RIC distributions
• Review work papers and other documents to support client deliverables
• Review disclosures included in audited financial statements
• Review quarterly and annual IRC asset compliance and gross income testing
• Participate in technical training to develop skills
• Develop investment tax and other accounting skills

Desired Experience:

• BS/BA degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 4-6 years of experience of mutual fund tax
• 1 – 2 years of experience overseeing the work of others in a review capacity.
• Understanding of accounting and tax concepts, practices, and procedures is required
• Strong client service skills, team attitude and attention to detail
• Ability to understand financial statements and fund accounting reports and spreadsheets
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
