The Plant Systems Engineer (PSE) is a primary technical resource for the Jeffersonville, IN facility. The PSE will identify, develop, and execute technical solutions for product quality improvement, equipment efficiency improvement, throughput gains, and waste reduction on the plant manufacturing systems. Additionally, the Plant Systems Engineer will rigorously support the CI team in the development and application of continuous improvement methodologies to deliver incremental year over year equipment performance improvement.
Principal Accountabilities
* 30% Apply continuous improvement methodologies to drive improvement. Demonstrate the understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, employees, and environment to provide robust solutions. Partners with CI to develop and maintain unit operation capability information to ensure optimal production rates and parameters.
* 20% Provide technical ownership of a defined area within the manufacturing operation, leveraging Early Management techniques, developing projects, and supporting start-ups.
* 20% Supports DDS, AM, and other key operational excellence foundational programs with technical expertise within the area of ownership. Collaborates with Maintenance and Operations resources to enhance reliability within the area of ownership.
* 20% Performs low to medium level complexity Engineering projects / tasks and acquires practical knowledge by assisting higher level project engineers. Provides support for capital project execution within area of focus for larger projects.
* 10% Develops and maintain strategic technical improvement plans for manufacturing systems within the area of focus. Assists in the development of annual and long-term capital plans.
Job Complexity
* Collaboration with and direction of outside contractors in the design and implementation of system improvement projects.
* Makes assessments of existing manufacturing operations to determine feasibility for operations
* Prepares project specifications, requisitions, engineering designs, project authorization documents and timelines for new equipment and systems.
* Implements engineering projects, designs and product changes which can normally range from $50,000 to $250,000
Job Specifications
* Education desired: B.S. in an Engineering discipline.
Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt preferred.
* Years of relevant experience: Intern experience in technical field at a minimum, 0-1 years of engineering preferred.
* The ability to resolve scheduling and technical issues with contractors, construction managers, equipment fabricators, design engineering firms, and Company representatives.
* The ability to effectively oversee and approve all aspects of design, installation, and scheduling of processing, packaging and filling systems improvement project work.
* AutoCAD experience recommended
* A combination of experience, proven skills, extensive knowledge of methodologies, and education may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree. Working Conditions
