Position is located at Calipatria State Prison 7018 Blair Road Calipatria, CA 92233.
Pursuant to the Public Health Orders ) and ) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff who work in correctional settings who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have not provided a record of full vaccination shall undergo twice-weekly COVID testing with at least 72 hours between each test. * Masks must be worn in accordance with local requirements, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requirements, and directive () issued by CDCR.
This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, a victim of human trafficking, or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code (GC) Section 18220 () are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. This position works a maximum of 130 hours per month or 1500 hours per year.
Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position. Must be regularly available and willing to work the hours necessary to meet the business needs.
Mechanical and Technical Occupational Trainee is a non-testing temporary appointment class. It is designed to provide persons an opportunity to develop skill which will facilitate their permanent entry into State service.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
