BASIC FUNCTION

The Sr. Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the Human Resources (HR) department to focus on big-picture issues critical to the future direction of the organization, as well as deliver excellence for daily issues associated with running the enterprise. Responsible for compliance of all HR-related programs, policies and processes. The HR team has 7 reports, both direct and contract, and will evolve with continued efficiencies. Baystar currently has around 215 employees with 15% growth targeted by year end to be fully staffed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Management Responsibilities:

• HR staff development through external sources, certification programs and internal development assignments

• Ensuring efficient, well-prioritized, HR support for all projects and regular workload

• Willingness to be an engaged supervisor with appropriate delegation and appropriate active involvement

• Support and enforce management objectives, directives, and guidelines during daily interaction with all Baystar employees and contractors

• Provide direction and make tactical decisions while executing long term planning, driving improvement and optimization

• Develop budgets and manage costs for assigned cost centers

• Coach and assist supervisors in executing short range planning as they supervise daily and weekly activities (both planned and unplanned) of employees and contractors, ensuring timely completion and quality of work in a proactive manner

• Provide technical guidance and expertise, identifying performance gaps and implementing training plans

• Track and evaluate department performance using Key Performance Indicators in alignment with Leadership initiatives

• Establish clear objectives for direct reports, communicating goals and providing performance feedback through ongoing and annual performance reviews

• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results

• Address personnel matters for subordinates (performance reviews, overtime, absenteeism control, etc.), consulting with management and HR when appropriate

• Evaluate performance and competencies of direct reports and carry out disciplinary action as needed

• Manage costs to approved budgets and monthly forecasts to consistently meet spend commitments

• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed

Leadership and Strategic Responsibilities:

• Move the HR function from solely an administratively focused group to one that also contributes at the operational and strategic levels

• Perform as a business partner to executive leadership; navigate from achieving rapid results to realizing long-term goals

• Align HR strategy to support organizational excellence; build the capabilities of the organization

• Lead HR-related Change Management programs; further develop and normalize the organization’s culture

• Develop a well-designed approach to HR that strengths the employment brand of the organization

• Maintain ongoing compliance with all applicable regulations through corporate policies and business practices

• Be the champion for new ideas in improving the employee experience within the organization

Functional Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement ever-improving compliance, KPI, and management reports

• Provide support and guidance to management when complex, specialized, and sensitive issues arise

• Appropriately implement tactful and professionally led solutions for high stress events (i.e. employee investigation, performance improvement counseling, and terminations)

• Ensure compliance, management awareness and understanding of Title VII including EEOC-compliant recruiting, Americans with Disabilities Act, harassment prevention measures

• In partnership with operations and executive leadership, develop framework that supports succession planning for high performing employees, as well as career pathing for all employees

• Ensure bench strength of recruiting programs, including well-documented internal management processes, new employee onboarding, internal referral methods, etc

• Work closely with management to create best possible outcome for employee disciplinary meetings, performance improvement planning, and terminations

• Perform employee investigations when needed

• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

• A minimum of 10 years human resource management experience for an industrial-focused workforce

• Expertise in legal compliance for HR-related matters.

• Demonstrated success building strong and positive relationships with corporate, engineering, administrative and industrial employees.

• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS databases.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• M.A. in a Human Resources discipline (i.e. Organizational Development, Leadership, etc.).

• Senior HR Certification (SHRM or HCRI).

• HR management role within a global or multi-national organization.

• Minimum of five (5) years of management responsibility for all aspects of functional HR.

• Experience with Compensation design, Benefits including 401(k) and deferred compensation, and Executive Compensation.

• Prior responsibility for data integrity management for HRIS system.

• Strategic HR responsibilities (i.e. alignment of HR to operations, structuring for profitability, etc.).

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the incumbent to:

• Follow safety requirements for the role

• Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage

• Lift up to 10 pounds

• Walk safely in and around industrial areas

• Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail

• Sit or stand for extended periods of time

• Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
