Title: Engineering Technician 3
Duration: 9 Month [w/extension possibilities]
Location: 100% ON-SITE in Austin, TX 78753 [candidate must be able to work onsite.]
Hours: Standard 40 hours, EST.
Deploying IT arrays, servers, switches in the various engineering environments by setting them up by placing tile cutouts, moving power connections in place, put racks on tile, mounting arrays, servers, switches in racks, powering the racks of equipment, running Fiber trunks, Ethernet cables between arrays and servers to the appropriate switches. Documenting connections, updating lab maps, updating the ESM service ticketing system, keeping the customers, engineers, and LabOPS engineers updated on the progress. Engineering Technicians do regular walk through of the labs for corrective actions that need to be done for safety, security, ESD, other LASO audits, and Dell Lab Standards. Keeping the labs cool with blanking panels & gapping devices. Rotations to uplift the technology, decommissions to return to inventory or scrap, consolidations to densify and make room for more technology. Relocating arrays, servers, switches for changing requirements in the various projects. Tracing cables, data mining discarded cables and various other related actives, inventory what was used, and keeping needed volume of supplies on hand for the future projects.
Responsibilities: • Manage, handle the ESM call management system incidents, and tasks assigned to you. • Taking instructions from Developers, QA, QC engineers, your manager, and LabOPS engineers. • Manage your call volume, setting the priority order, adjustments from your manager, and the LabOPS Engineers.
You will: • Work independently and in teams. • You will use ladders to run, remove cables in cable trays, and whalebone. • Operating various type lefts to lift heavy equipment into and out of the racks. • Documenting, labeling of arrays, servers, switches, racks, and cabling.
Essential Requirements • Provide rack and stack service of hardware components (servers, arrays, and switches). • Assist engineers with installations in the labs. • A person who enjoys working with IT, both as an individual, and team.

Responsible for working on special assignments and prototype development projects. Works from developed test plans and written or verbal instructions. Constructs, troubleshoots, and tests prototype assemblies, as well as assists engineers in the development process and test phase of prototype systems.
