American Campus Communities Looking for Seasonal Property Accountant (Part-Time) at Austin, TX Full Time

*Fully Remote Availability*

We are seeking a part-time Seasonal Property Accountant who is responsible for all required day-to-day accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties, as assigned on a month-to-month basis. This is a comprehensive position that requires a solid understanding of all aspects of accounting.

Critical & Essential Duties:

• Perform required accounting functions with accuracy including, but not limited to: reconciling accounting schedules to the general ledger, making journal entries, reconciling bank statements, preparing supporting working papers, etc.
• Prepare full-service financial statements for assigned properties or reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts to deliver to Property Accounting management.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Communicate with Property Accounting management on a regular basis to ensure required information is received and the reporting calendar is met.
• Prepare additional reports and analysis as required by auditors, lenders, and joint venture partners, as specifically assigned by Property Accounting management.
• Assist Property Accounting management with explanations of variances from budget.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of related accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Accountant level preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Power Point, Word, Email, and Internet.
• GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley.
• Accounting software, preferably MRI.
• Real estate experience preferred.
