We are seeking an accomplished leader to help build out a global high performing Solution Architecture (SA) team focused on helping customer modernize their mainframe platforms. The leader will report to the Mainframe Modernization GTM (go-to-market) organization, which is within the broader specialist sales organization.
Key job responsibilities
As the world-wide leader of the Mainframe Modernization SA organization, your responsibilities will include driving strategic mainframe engagements, and helping customers and partners deepen business and technical relationships with customers.
You will build high-performing teams of solution architects. You will focus on scaling the SA function, scaling existing AWS services, delivering enablement to the broader field organization, and developing repeatable, packaged solutions to solve customer challenges. As the voice of the customer, you will influence product teams to help them evolve the products and address issues, concerns, and requests from the field.
To be successful, you will need to analyze and determine key customer insights from business drivers, market trends and customer feedback, and operating metrics.
You will be responsible for establishing clear goals and deliverables for your team including customer engagements, building demos and POCs, speaking engagements, creating technical documentation, and more. You must ensure that your team is continuously learning and differentiating AWS with and for customers. You will be expected to plan and allocate for the best use of team resources in order to meet your team goals.
* 5+ years of experience in technical leadership roles in infrastructure or cloud technology
* 10+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and app development
* 5+ years of experience with mainframe re-platforming and mainframe re-factoring
* Mainframe modernization technical depth including mainframe architecture, Java application architecture, and HA/DR architecture fundamentals
* Familiarity with complex legacy IT environments (mainframe, non-x86 legacy systems and with technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 for z/OS, Assembler, PL/I, Java, Rexx, flat/sequential files, GDGs, and VSAM, mid-range systems – AS/400, Unix systems, other legacy codebases and databases) and commercial ISV solutions that support these workloads.
* BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent work experience required
* Up to 50% travel required
* Exceptional people-management skills
* Ability to motivate, encourage and coach others to develop strong relationship building and solution architecture skills
* Track record of building rapport with senior customer executives (e.g. C-Suite or direct reports of C-Suite)
* Strong verbal and written communications skills
* Proven ability to deliver results in a matrix organization
