Quality Engineer – Engineering and Manufacturing – Compensation to $95k/Year – Newark, NJ

Our client, a leader in precision metal stamping, injection molding, value-added assembly solutions and tooling has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Engineer.  In this critical role,  you will be directly managing technical personnel including inspectors, programmers and quality engineers.   Overseeing those who design, install and evaluates quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques, specifies inspection, testing mechanisms and equipment, analyzes production and service limitations and standards.

Requirements:

• Representing the customer to ensure that the customer’s quality expectations are clearly understood and being met
• Managing Programs to include technology, metrology and cross functional teams from manufacturing, engineering and other internal/external resources
• Overseeing the coordination and on-time/in-budget completion of all quality projects which may involve measurement of progressive stamping parts and tooling, insert molding parts and tooling, factory assembled automation and other related tooling/processes
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)completion of documentation, including DOE’s, FMEA’s, Process Flowcharts, Control Plans, Capability Studies and Gage R&R’s (MSA Studies)
• Overseeing the creation and distribution of quality project schedules.  Ensuring quality project milestones and deadlines are met including assignment of responsibilities, monitoring progress and reporting of status to management/customer
• Participating in product design (R&D) meetings with customers associated with print discussions, GD&T methodology, Tolerance Stack-Up discussions and “Best Practices” from a quality perspective
• Utilizing SolidWorks for product/tooling design
• Reading blueprints and other technical documents.  Understanding of ANSI/ISO Drawing standards and GD&T dimensioning
• Demonstrated customer interfacing skills to facilitate engineering discussions/technical reviews
• Experience with TQM, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 yrs. experience in quality engineering
• Experience in medical device/life science industry required
• Experience with management of direct reports and technical staff
• Requires a 4-yr engineering, technical or management degree or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding/experience with Progressive metal stamping and/or insert molding processes
• Knowledge of quality inspection tools and methods required. Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and methods
• Knowledge of GMP/ISO Quality Systems required
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience in Validation/PPAP, required
