Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a highly motivated HR Support person. This position will be responsible for assisting the Defense Business Unit HR team and leadership with daily operations to ensure the employee experience is a priority, while also providing data and metrics to focus on continuous improvement.

The position will reside at the Defense Business Unit headquarters location in Cummings Research Park with a requirement to be onsite with some occasional remote work flexibility.

Relocation is not provided for this position. Local travel across the Huntsville locations will be required and occasional travel to other Aerojet Rocketdyne sites may be required. Reports to the Defense Business Unit HR Director.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

With limited supervision, the HR Operations Assistant will perform a variety of specialized and administrative activities in support of Human Resources.This position supports the HR Director, Huntsville HR Sr Manager and other HR staff members both in Huntsville and across other Defense locations.

• 25% – Metrics and Data Reporting. Run weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and disseminate to various stakeholders while ensuring discretion is used with sensitive data. Examples include requisition status, headcount reports, attrition, and recognition program usage. May be required to develop and run other ad hoc reports from Oracle/Maestro, iCIMS, or Qlik. Prepare data-rich presentations that provide business metrics that HR owns and delivers.

• 25% – Employee Engagement Focal. Assist with the planning and execution of site events in Huntsville in support of employee morale, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), community engagements and education initiatives. Support onsite training activities and employee appreciation events. Serve as the focal for employee service awards to ensure leaders are maximizing employee engagement by recognizing employees for their tenure with our Company. Host focus groups with HRBPs to ensure employee sentiment on various topics is a constant focus.

• 20% – Orientation Focal. Coordinate and facilitate weekly orientation on Monday mornings, ensuring appropriate accommodations, speaker and leader availability, new employee preparedness and a welcoming and efficient onboarding process. Process I-9 verification in partnership with Security. Coordination with Communications and Badging to announce new employees to our team and ensure they are added to distribution lists. Prepare all new employee documentation for day one.

• 20% – Employee Support. Interact with employees by providing information on company policy, procedures, benefits, and/or directing them to the appropriate resource to resolve work related issues and return to productive work. Engage HRBPs or other HR COE experts to assist employees with more difficult questions/issues.

• 10% – Office Operations. Assist with meeting scheduling, supply orders, travel arrangements and expensing, and data requests from external agencies.

Requirements

Requires an Associate’s Degree in an appropriate discipline, and 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or pursuing, as well as SCP/CP (SHRM) or PHR/SPHR (HRCI) Certification.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to exercise discretion and tact when dealing with confidential or sensitive information is essential due to the sensitive and legal components involved in working in the Human Resource center of excellence.
• Must be very proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Advanced skills in both MS Excel and PowerPoint to effectively manipulate data and incorporate into visually pleasing presentations that tell a story through information.
• Must be detail-oriented and organized.
• Ability to communicate in a professional and friendly manner with all levels of management and employees with strong verbal and written grammar skills.
• Candidate must possess strong analytical skills.
• Ability to assimilate information quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Local travel across the Huntsville locations will be required and occasional travel to other Aerojet Rocketdyne sites may be required.
• Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.

Candidate Preferences:

• Experience in a technical work environment using a matrix management structure is desirable.
• Experience with HRIS systems is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or an administrative area preferred.
• Previous work experience in Human Resources preferred or work experience in an environment requiring confidentiality.

Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Will require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. This position may be expected to be available to support varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
