This position is responsible for managing 5 to 10 projects spread over multiple states. Projects could vary in size from 10 employees to 60 employees. Projects will be focused on traditional power plant daily ash management operations and medium to large ($20M-$500M) construction projects. All projects will have a Site Manager or Project Manager on location directing day to day activities. It is the Director’s role to ensure all sites are performing up to Charah standards in safety, production, environmental compliance, HR, and P&L policies. This includes communicating internally and with the customer (up to and including the Plant Manager as well as Director level corporate utility personnel) on a frequent basis.
Responsibilities: Position may involve performing other duties as required, which may not be mentioned below. Specific functions may change from time to time.

• Manage multiple Site Managers or Project Managers and their project schedules
• Maintain continual communications with the customer and managers
• Work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Possess strong civil construction skills and maintain a focus on customer responsiveness
• Manage specific projects from mobilization to operations / construction through project close out
• Work with state engineers, utility environmental team, independent engineering firms, internal support personnel etc.
• Follow and enforce all applicable safety policies and programs, and thoroughly read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures
• Maintain verbal and written communication with customers in a professional manner
• Maintain project schedules and P&L
• Manage complex contractual terms with customers and suppliers. Work with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to develop and manage complex contractual terms in the best interest of Charah
• Project change management – Develop, negotiate, execute, and manage through complex change orders and change order processes with excellent communication to the customer and internally
• Develop onsite revenue and profit opportunities by leveraging existing business relationships and customer needs
• Develop long range customer solutions in order to extend and expand Charah’s capabilities, YOY repeatable business and customer service profile
• Develop weekly and daily reports as needed to support the needs of the customer or upper management
• Manage 100% compliance of contract terms with support from upper management on issues with large implications
• Develop cost proposals for submission to the customer
• Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management

Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management or equivalent work experience required
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant construction management and field experience is required
• Experience working within the power generation industry preferred
• Specialized construction management training and project management training is preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
• A sound knowledge of applicable codes and OSHA safety criteria is also required
• A proven track record and ability to successfully manage large projects and maintain high customer satisfaction is required
• Motivated self-starter
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organization skills
• Ability to effectively manage time addressing multiple needs across multiple projects
• Execution-focused with the ability to take individual responsibility for delivering quality work in a deadline driven environment with a high level of precision
• Ability to operate both on the strategic and tactical levels within an organization
