ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Controller to become a highly visible member of the Finance Department reporting to the CFO. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally leading an accounting function at a pre IPO, hyper growth company. We are looking for someone who can bring enthusiasm and experience building out accounting organizations and improving financial processes. The ideal candidate enjoys building effective working relationships with all parts of the organization

ABOUT YOU

• Leadership: You are a team builder that enjoys working with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish your goals. You are open to new ideas and work collaboratively with all members of the team. You can not only survive, but thrive in a remote organization. You have built out best in class accounting organizations.

• The Books: You are up to date on the latest GAAP/IFRS guidance. You are experienced with overseeing all aspects of the monthly close process. You understand what best in class financial statement preparation looks like.

• Compliance: You can identify key risks and implement internal controls to mitigate them

• Audit: You have experience supporting/leading audits to ensure financials are in good standing.

• Treasury: You have helped manage banking and treasury functions.

• Tax: You have managed the company’s taxes to include working with external partners to ensure compliance.

• Stakeholders: You have owned and managed relationships with Executives and external stakeholders (auditors, investors, etc).

• Systems: You are experienced with Quickbooks, ERPs (preferably NetSuite), and other systems in the financial stack (Bill.com, Expensify, Avalara/TaxJar, Stripe, etc).

• Personality:

  • You are organized, self-driven and have a “do what it takes” attitude while maintaining a pleasant and approachable personality.

  • You are willing to take on an active player-coach role as you build out the organization

  • You are a problem solver who can identify challenges within the organization and can come up with solutions to improve the overall functioning of the department.

YOU HAVE

• a CPA

• previously worked at B2C company

• 10+ years of progressive experience and at least 3 years in a senior role (Director or above)

• been in a lead finance role (ie Controller/VP Finance) for a hyper growth, privately held company

• extensive experience hiring talent and building out a world-class accounting organization
