As a GL Accountant at Moda, your primary role will be executing on the accounting function for multiple entities involved with the Company’s Medicaid businesses. These businesses are associated with the coordinated care organization (CCO) model for administration of the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) as governed by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). This GL Accountant will work closely with the Medicaid Accounting Lead, two other Medicaid GL Accountant, the Assistant Controller, Controller, other Accounting Supervisors and Managers, and several other members of the Moda Accounting department and Medicaid Services department. This person’s primary responsibilities will include execution of the monthly close process, including: preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and external reporting. Moda is seeking an individual who excels in accounting and is looking for an opportunity to work collaboratively with the growing Medicaid team.

1. Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance; Accounting preferred. 2. 3+ years public accounting or GL accounting experience; CPA preferred but not required. 3. Strong understanding of accounting concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 4. Understanding of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) preferred. 5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including understanding of T-Accounts, and ability to work through difficult accounting scenarios. 6. Experience with or exposure to various forms of financial reporting, including preparation of financials, footnotes and both electronic and hard copy tie outs. 7. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 8. Ability to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines, as well as ability to maintain flexibility to shift priorities and reprioritize. 9. Strong time-management and organization skills; ability to move multiple work streams forward at once and actively prioritize projects. 10. Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Use of pivot tables, vlookups, and other moderately difficult Excel functions required. 11. Ability to maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image with both internal and external parties. 12. Willingness to work additional hours when necessary.
