The Colonial Group Looking for Quality Engineer at Hartsville, SC Full Time

Job Summary:

Our client is looking to fill a Quality Engineer position with manufacturing experience to assist in quality planning. This position will participate in material review activity and initiating and monitoring corrective action programs. The ideal candidate will have experience with submitting PPAPs and First Article Inspections. This position requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers, suppliers, and coworkers. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as on a team                               

Specific Responsibilities:       

• Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
• Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
• Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
• Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
• Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
• Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
• Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
• Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
• Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
• Participates in internal and externa audits
• Ability to participate in and develop processes to meet new Quality Management Standards
• Prepare and assess statistical information on machine capabilities.
• Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or associates degree with 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Experience:

• 0-5 years of experience in a Quality or Manufacturing role is desired

 Qualifications:

• APQP, PPAP, AS9102, and other First Article inspection reports
• Quality Management Standards ISO9001, AS9100, Nadcap and / or TS16949
• Experience with utilizing a variety of gauges and gauging techniques

 Other Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Control Plans, FMEA MSA, ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Metallurgical background preferred but not required
• Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and 8D forms is a plus.
• Knowledge of NDT methods a plus.
• Project Management skills and familiarity with Government Contract Review are a plus.
• Experience using an MRP, or ERP system is helpful.
