Brief Description

The Applications Engineer I, is a subject matter expert on sensor technologies and utilizes engineering principles and critical thinking skills to review a measurement application and provide sound engineering judgment for customer selection of new sensor purchases or troubleshooting of fielded sensors.

Primary Responsibilities

• Covers all technical interactions between current and potential customers, Engineering, and Sales
• Prepares written technical explanations, data analysis, and application notes for customers, internal and external
• Provides briefings to upper management and other team members on the status of NPRs, technical inquiries, prototype developments, testing results, customer feedback, and other technical issues
• Preparation of operating guides, quick start guides, marketing articles, cut sheets, sales presentations, and case studies to be used by internal customers
• Conduct market research of competitors’ products and emerging technologies to prepare comparison matrixes to assist the sales team in product selection and to guide the design team on market trends. 
• Identify potential target customers by analyzing existing applications and identifying similar customers in that market.
• Develops strategic NPRs to cover the profitable market segments with new offerings
• Participate in tradeshows and technical conferences as a subject matter expert on Dytran sensors. 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent of 5 years of progressive related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledgeable in technical products.
• Professional salesmanship skills including relationship building, in order to understand and meet the needs of our customers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Advanced math skills and the ability to understand “abstract” principles including math and physics for Engineering/Technical sales.
• General knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of sensors and the aerospace industry a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.
• Must be a local candidate.
